Bandit Brewery

Housed in a former mechanic’s garage, Bandit Brewery is a new addition to the Roncesvalles neighbourhood in Toronto. Sixteen Degree Studio was hired to gain the necessary minor variances at the Committee of Adjustment as well as plan the space.

The rigid structural grid of the industrial building was used to divide up the manufacturing, bar and patron areas. The brewing equipment was placed in the centre of the plan with a wrap-around bar. Seating has been divided into two zones across the front and side of the building where the new glazed garage doors and windows bring in plenty of natural light. The exterior walls have been insulated and the mechanical system upgraded so that the space will be comfortable in all seasons. Back of house functions, including a commercial kitchen, are located across the rear of the building and within in a repurposed spray booth from the old garage.
